How animals get to the shelters of our fund

BIM Charitable Foundation for Animal Protection is a non-profit ‘no-kill’ organization working since 1986 without government funding or any kind of support. Our life-saving activities are entirely dependent on charitable donations. We are now running five animal shelters in Moscow and the region.

Economic crisis has not passed by and we are in desperate need for monetary donations from those who have a pity for lost, abandoned and abused animals.

Stray dogs and cats from urban streets, amputees, retired circus actors and ‘wild beasts' from menageries (bears, horses, wolves, a female camel of unreal beauty, a python and many others), victims of animal traffickers, and pets betrayed by their owners – all these are the inhabitants of the shelters totally amounting to 2,500.

Can you just imagine how much food do they need? Here is the approximate amount per month: 21,000 kg of dry food for cats and dogs, 2,000 kg of grits, 16,000 kg of meat and meat products, 1,500 kg of vegetables and fruit, 1,000 kg of fish. We also spend about €5000 per month for veterinary care (medicines and materials for surgery, equipment maintenance), and for staffing. The staff includes 50 employees responsible for animal care and 18 members of vet service team (including hospital personnel of BIM-Hoteichi shelter). In order to keep the shelters running we also have to pay for power, waste disposal (€400 monthly) and potable water delivery (€1000 monthly) to two of the five shelters.

The survival of our shelters depends upon contributions from people like you! Thousands of animals have been already rescued by the Foundation, and you can keep that number growing.
